There is a lot to do in The Outer Worlds. You are talking, shooting, exploring, looting. From time to time, you might also be tempted to get up to some stealing. You might even want to pickpocket people! In this guide, we will give you all the information you need to be an expert criminal.

The Outer Worlds Stealing Guide – How To Steal, And Pickpocket People

The first thing to understand about stealing in The Outer Worlds is that the game doesn’t seem to have any karma system. You can take as much as you like, as long as nobody sees you do it. If anyone witnesses you doing it, then you might need to try and talk your way out of it, or people will instantly attack you. You will lose reputation with whatever faction the witness is from because nobody likes a thief. Make sure all your stealing gets done in secret, and you will be fine.

How To Pickpocket

If you want to get up to some pickpocketing, you will need to invest 40 skill points into the Stealth skill to unlock the ability to pickpocket. The more points you put into sneaking and stealth skills, the easier it will be to do. All you need to do is sneak up behind a character by crouching, and as long as they are unaware of you, you will be able to pick their pocket.

Once again, you don’t want any witnesses to see you, or you will face the same consequences are stealing. You also don’t want to get too close to the target. Try hovering at a distance where the option becomes available to you.

Pickpocketing can be very useful and can get you items, keys, and essential quest items as well. It won’t suit everyone’s playstyle or build, but for those who are going in a different direction, you can always pick things up off a corpse.
