When will Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem come to Pokémon Go?

New legendary Pokémon are making their debut in Pokémon Go.

New legendary Pokémon coming to Pokémon Go is always exciting because it means additional five-stars raids will be coming to the game, and many of these legendaries have brand new events centered around them. On May 19, developer Niantic announced they were bringing Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem to the mobile augmented reality game.

The first, Reshiram and Zekrom, first made their debut in Pokémon Black and White, which released in 2010. They were the new legendary Pokémon. Reshiram was a Dragon and Fire-type, whereas Zekrom was a Dragon and an Electric-type. Two years later, GameFreak pulled a first and created a direct sequel to these Pokémon games, Black 2 and White 2, and introduced a new legendary for these editions, Kyurem, which is a Dragon and Ice-type.

Now, these three are arriving to Pokémon Go. Unfortunately, there are no exact release dates for all three of them. We do know they will be arriving to the game at the end of May. Of the three, Reshiram will be the first. You can interact with them starting on May 26 at 1:00pm to June 16 at 1:00pm PDT. The other two, Zekrom and Kyurem, will be coming to the game at a later date. During those event dates, there will be raid hours featuring Reshiram happening at these dates and times:

  • May 27 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm local time
  • June 3 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm local time
  • June 10 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm local time

The release dates and times for these legendary Pokémon may mirror that of Thundurus, Tornadus, and Landorus, the Forces of Nature legendary Pokémon. These Pokémon made their debut in early 2020, with Tornadus first arriving in February, followed by Thundurus in March, and Landorus in April. Each of them was featured in five-star raids for the entire month, giving trainers plenty of time to engage them. Some of these legendary Pokémon also showed up as battle league rewards, Pokémon Go’s player-versus-player system that also made its official debut in early 2020.

We can expect to learn more details about Zekrom and Kyurem in the future. Trainers had best be ready to prepare their ideal Pokémon counters for each to face off against them soon. Make sure you’re ready to face Reshiram starting on May 26.
