One of the best Square Enix RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger, has come to Steam today for the first time ever. It’s available as the Chrono Trigger Limited Edition version, which will be available until April 2 with a few digital bonuses that come with every purchase until after that date.

The Chrono Trigger Limited Edition Steam version is $14.99, and it includes a digital song file with a medley of five songs from the game: “Far Off Promise,” “Wind Scene,” “Battle with Magus,” “Corridors of Time,” and “Chrono Trigger” with digital liner notes from composer Yasunori Mitsuda, as well as six PC wallpapers in different sizes. These will no longer be available if you purchase the game after April 2, so make sure you snag it soon if you want those extra goodies.

Additionally, the game has been given some important updates in the form of graphical and sound augments, with optimized visuals, a re-recorded soundtrack, and optimized PC controls that support controller and mouse configurations. There’s also a new autosave feature, so you can save your game the traditional way but still have backups in case you have a little mishap.

This version of the game looks as though it’s been taken from the mobile port, which will include all the enhancements that have been made for the PC version to the mobile versions. If you’ve been playing on those platforms, there’s an update available today that will bring the same improvements from the new PC version to iOS and Android to get those up to speed. Some of the updates include retina and cloud save features as well as Apple TV support.

If you’ve never played Chrono Trigger, now’s a great time to get into it. It’s been ported many times since its original 1995 release on the Super Nintendo, but this PC version is the newest out of a long line. If you love Final Fantasy sensibilities and artwork from Dragon Ball Z’s Akira Toriyama, you’re in for a treat.
