There’s a rumor around, popping up from 4chan and then arriving on ResetEra, that could give us an idea on what Ninja Theory is making after the acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
This rumor claims that the developer of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved and DmC Devil May Cry could be working on a four-player co-op sci-fi title. It would be developed on Unreal Engine 4.
It would be the first time that Ninja Theory would be working on a multiplayer game since it’s always been focused on solo experiences.
The game would be releasing in 2020 and, according to the rumor, it has not been made as a multiplayer because of Microsoft’s acquisition: this idea would’ve been floating around the studio for six years.
The story would be featuring multiple different planets, with characters exploring them to hunt down the alien race which has invaded Earth and forced them to flee.
The game would be focused on melee action but would be much faster-paced in comparison with Hellblade, and every player would have the opportunity to choose among unique abilities that would influence the combat style.
There would be 18 levels across six unique locations; each location would be coming with three levels and 90 minutes of gameplay, for a total of nine hours. Each level would end with a boss fight described as similar to the latest God of War’s.
Bear in mind this is just a rumor, so don’t take anything for granted. Anyway, Ninja Theory should be at E3 2019’s Xbox media briefing, so it shouldn’t take ages before we learn the truth about its next project.
