As shared by Forbes, only 17 million of that grand amount have remained at Cloud Imperium, and most of that money has been spent in the effort of building demos to offer the investors, just to convince them to spend more money to purchase in-game ships (dropping at absurd prices even reaching 3k dollars each).
While 129 consumers have filed complaints at FTC because the game is nowhere close to being completed, demanding refunds and making the situation even more troubled for the studio (they’d have to spend a total of $24,000 in refunds), developers themselves are starting to doubt about Chris Roberts’ vision.
Because of Roberts’ maniacal work on details and obsession to control every aspect of the development in person, of the 100 star systems that should be included in the title zero have been completed.
It even took months for one senior graphics engineer to satisfy his request of perfecting visual effects for ship shields, and former lead character artist David Jennison shared that it took 17 months to complete work on just five characters.
A Squadron 42 beta, the single-player campaign for the project, is expected to drop in 2020, but the release for the full Star Citizen MMO experience has never been so far in the future.
