Now, Rockstar Games has released a patch that has tried and fixed the issue, in particular introducing a new option called Game HDR.
The game now features that and a Cinematic HDR, which is the same HDR option that has been used thus far by default.
As shared by Digital Foundry, Game mode unlocks the peak brightness settings and is recommended to play RDR2.
With the latest patch, there’s also been a rumor about ambient occlusion’s downgrade, something DF doesn’t agree with.
The tech label remarks AO occlusion maps are better than ever now, even though it’s not clear which technique is being put into place (SSAO, HBAO, etc.) so it should be called an upgrade if anything.
As for the checkerboard rendering on PlayStation 4 Pro, which is also something that players have been asking Rockstar Games to work on, there are no improvements nor differences between the day one version and patch 1.09.
