How Many Episodes Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Feature?

Final Fantasy VII Remake Dev Doesn't Know How Many Epidodes It'll Feature

Let's just be very clear about Final Fantasy VII Remake -- it looks awesome. The game has been finally shown in all of its core systems at E3 2019 Square Enix's media briefing, and it is not only gorgeous in terms of visuals but also seems like a title I would like to play for what matters its hybrid action/strategic gameplay.

By the way, there are some serious issues with the way the project is being held. As you might remember, it's going to be an episodic game, although, weirdly enough, it hasn't been revealed yet how many episodes there will be in the full title once this series is complete.

There's one particular reason because Square Enix hasn't revealed that information yet, though: they don't even know that themselves. Yoshinori Kitase, the producer, has shared that worrying news during a group interview with the press at E3 2019, as reported by Kotaku.

"Before we actually started working on this, we knew it was going to be a large amount of content. When we started out planning the plot for the first game, it hit us again... at that point we decided we were going to focus the first game on Midgar and what happens in Midgar," Kitase said.

At E3 2019 it has been unraveled that the first episode will be entirely focused on the city of Midgar, which is going full open world and will have an expanded story (in the original game you stay there only a few hours, indeed); "unfortunately we can’t say anything more about future games, because we don’t know ourselves."

Sounds crazy, especially if you consider that the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake is now slated for March 20, 2020.
