Bloodstained Will Be Getting "A Number Small Updates" To Fix Switch Port Of The Game

The Switch version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be receiving multiple small updates to fix the performance issues.

Bloodstained is an action-adventure game that functions akin to Metroidvania, a term to describe games that play similar to old-school Castlevania and Metroid games. Koji “Iga” Igarashi, one of the leading figures of classic Castlevania games, is producing the game.

Bloodstained received funding through a Kickstarter back in 2015. Those who donated enough money were given an option to what version of the game they would receive when the game is released. Back in 2015, a Wii U version was one of those options. Since the Wii U is now defunct, the Bloodstained team decided to cancel the Wii U version, and an opportunity was provided to the backers to switch out their Wii U copies with a PS4, Xbox One, PC, or Nintendo Switch port.

For those that chose to get a copy of Bloodstained on the Nintendo Switch, they received an inferior version. Not only did the Switch version release a week after the PS4 and Xbox One versions, but it released with horrible frame-rates and poor performances.

There have been several reports of the game’s poor performances on the Switch. There’s even a video comparing the Switch version with the PS4 version, showing that the Switch version looks far worse than the PS4 version.

In response to these criticisms, Senior Community Manager Jason Ryan posted an update on Kickstarter. The update details the concerns with the Switch port, and what they plan to do to fix it. There was an update released before launched on the Switch labeled Update 1.01. Update 1.01 was meant to improve the performance of Bloodstained, though it ended up not fixing all the problems in the game.

Ryan will then describe that they plan to fix the Switch version of Bloodstained through a series of small updates, rather than with one massive update. More information on these updates is coming at a later date.
