Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Gets ESRB Rating, Release Incoming

One of the few big surprises at E3 2019 was the announcement of Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. The title arrives on modern consoles for a brand new audience who may have no experience with the original series.

The remaster announcement came as a trailer, showing it would come to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2019. The trailer did not come with an exact release date.

However, as reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, the title has received an ESRB rating. When this happens, it means the game is usually a month or two away from the official launch.

The game has been rated T for teen, the same as the original release in 1999, which is not a surprise if you consider that the remaster won't be adding stuff.

There are a few differences in regards to the original rating, though. The game is said to have "Mild Blood, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence." The original had no references to blood nor alcohol and mentioned animated violence instead of pure violence.

What could have changed over the years is that the higher resolution might add a layer of realism the original didn't have. As of right now, we're only waiting for a proper release date announcement, which could come our way very soon.
