First Three Dragon Quest Games Coming to Switch in the West

Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that the first three Dragon Quest games would be coming to the Switch in Japan. At the time, there was no word if these ports would become available to the West.

Just today (Sept. 16), we now know that these ports are coming to the West. All three games will be available to purchase individually from the Switch's eShop. Dragon Quest will cost $4.99, Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line will be $6.49, and Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation will be $12.49. All three ports will be available on Sept. 27. These are releasing the same day that Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition launches on the Switch. It's going to be a busy day for Dragon Quest fans.

Even if you're not a Dragon Quest fan, some of these games may be worth checking out. The first Dragon Quest came out in 1986 and set the standard for RPG video games. Plus, if you like playing as The Hero in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you might want to see the origin of his alternative skins. The first three Dragon Quest games are a trilogy centered around the legendary hero Erdrick.

Although the official announcement states that these first three games are coming out on Sept. 27, Nintendo's website shows their release dates as Sept. 26. Maybe you can sneak one or two in before Dragon Quest XI S comes out the next day.
