Blizzard Reportedly Releasing Overwatch Character Echo as 32nd Hero Next To Overwatch 2

Here’s what we know about Blizzard Releasing Echo as Overwatch’s 32 playable hero

Overwatch fans first learned about Echo during BlizzCon 2018, but now after a year of waiting, they may get the opportunity to try out the new hero alongside the release of Overwatch 2. These details were Initially reported by ESPN, who provided details about Overwatch 2 getting announced at BlizzCon 2019, where attendees are going to get the chance to try the game for themselves, with an all-new PvE mission and a new game mode.

We first see Echo during McCree’s animated short called Reunion. While she was one hero seen in the animated short, players instead got Ashe as the next playable character, with her robot partner B.O.B in tow as her ultimate ability.

Details regarding Echo are light at this time. We only learned about them from ESPN who earlier this morning broke the news of a detailed leak they received from one of their reliable sources. In the leak, they got further details about Overwatch 2‘s upcoming PvE focus, a new game mode, information about hero talents and in-game items, and a new map based on Toronto.

At this time, we do not have any official details from Blizzard. They have remained extremely quiet about these details, keeping all of their official information close to their chest. The company is likely waiting for BlizzCon 2019 to make all of those formal announcements where they have most of their devoted fanbase watching them.

It would make sense they’re wary about releasing these details. While they’ve had a decent year overall in terms of games, their public reception has gone down considerably lately due to how they’ve handled eSports players and commentators taking a political stance for Hong Kong. They’re likely hoping the game news and announcements could stave off these bleak views, but fans may not be so quick to forgive.

We’re going to wait for the information word from Blizzard about Overwatch 2 and Echo at BlizzCon 2019, which takes place this week on Friday, Nov. 1.

Stay tuned to learn more.
