Halo Reach for Xbox One and PC is almost upon us. It took a bit more than anticipated but it is indeed releasing on December 3, 2019 as announced a few days ago at X019, as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One and standalone on Microsoft Store and Steam.

What happens after it? 343 Industries has shared an interesting piece of insight about the plan for the future of the collection, which – as it was already revealed – is coming with all the titles available on console on PC, too.
The next in the pipeline is Halo: Combat Evolved, that will be followed throughout 2020 by Halo 2 Anniversary Edition, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo 4. The roadmap is already there, even though we don’t know the precise timing of those releases.
According to community director Brian Jarrard, “once Reach comes out next month, after the holiday, we will start to reset, and we’ll start to flight Halo CE. We’re just going to keep going down the road until we fill out the rest of the collection.”
If you’re a fan of the franchise, you can expect Combat Evolved to, err, reach PC after the holiday with a first flight, or beta. Of course, the game is coming not from the original release, which had already happened courtesy of Gearbox back in the days, but from the Anniversary Edition.
Even in that case, though, “we’re taking a game that’s very old, and we’re trying to update it for this platform – making it run at 60 fps, 4K – but also trying to account for all the requirements that PC gamers expect nowadays,” Jarrard told PCGamesN. “That’s things like uncapped frame rates, an FOV slider, and support for different aspect ratios.”
Then, Halo Combat Evolved is going to happen right after the holiday, at least as an initial flight, and you should anticipate nothing less than a significant work rather than a lazy port for the PC platform.
