There’s been a lot of talk about where Assassin’s Creed would go next after the success of 2018’s Odyssey. Thanks to a recent report from Reddit, we actually have a fairly good idea.

A now-deleted user provided several details on the series’ next potential entry, Ragnarok. It’s reportedly slated to arrive in fall 2020 on both “old and new gen” consoles, hinting at a possible debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.

The game is likely to have a Viking setting, set somewhere around 800 BC. Like Odyssey, players will be able to choose between male and female characters, with the general name of Jora.

The game will apparently feature a map based in Scandinavia as well as a “big part of England, including London and Pilmouth.” The Brotherhood system could possibly make a return as well, with recruitment of non-playable characters available.

As with Odyssey and other releases, players will be able to travel the high seas via boat to get around the world. But there will reportedly be less naval combat this time around.

Fortunately, the on-land action should be as strong as ever, with various gameplay mechanics from past entries making a return, including Odyssey‘s role-playing elements.

As for the story, the report indicates that it’s a “revenge quest, with a big part of first civilization story.” There will also be visitable realms like Asgard and Jotunheim, and mythical beings like Odin and Loki involved, along with the Yggdrasil. There will be modern day elements as well, but with a “conclusion” to the current storyline.

The Reddit leaker also noted that we could see a reveal of Ragnarok this February at a “PlayStation event.” Could this mean that Sony will do what it did with the PlayStation 4 all those years ago and host a special showcase for the PlayStation 5? It’s possible, though the company hasn’t said anything yet.

Ubisoft hasn’t said anything about Ragnarok as of yet either, so take all of this information with a grain of salt. Still, if any of this ends up being true, it could be a solid continuation of a franchise that has grown stronger in recent years with games like Origins and Odyssey.
