Players were able to play the full version of Yakuza 6 with the North American demo

Yesterday, the massive Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo was up for grabs in North America and other regions. The 36.53 GB demo was a delightful slice of the game, offering up a good chunk of the story to play through as well as minigames to enjoy. It offered plenty of the game to check out ahead of its full release in April, but unfortunately it’s no longer available to download on PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Network.

Sega has pulled the demo as of yesterday evening, citing the fact that players were somehow able to access the entirety of the game via the demo. The demo players are able to download is actually the full version of the game, hence the over 30 GB download size, so if you purchase and unlock the game, you can simply play through the entire game.

This apparently didn’t happen in the European and Australian versions of the demo, and instead the demo would simply end after players reached a certain point. The North American version would let some players continue playing, and Sega ended up taking to Twitter to make the announcement that the demo had been removed from the U.S. PlayStation Store.

Sega has yet to confirm whether the demo will be re-added so fans can experience the awesome first look at Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Hopefully it’s not a case of keeping them in the dark until launch in April.
