A woman boards a Carnival cruise for her birthday, then opens her ‘gift’ and says it ‘should be against the law’

A passenger on the Carnival Panorama says a card, a mini bottle of prosecco and a dessert were left in her cabin for her birthday, while Carnival's website sells a birthday cake package from $47.95.

A woman says the birthday gift left in her cabin on a Carnival cruise was a letdown, according to BroBible. Kendra, a TikTok user, described the trip in a video about her time aboard the Carnival Panorama, where her birthday fell during the sailing. The outlet states she was disappointed, by her own telling.

In the clip, Kendra recalls saying “Platinum level, and I ain’t got no birthday gift?” She says she then told a staff member on board that she had spent money on the ship and wanted her birthday acknowledged. Afterward, Kendra went back to her room, where a card, a dessert beneath a metal cloche and a mini bottle of prosecco had been left by the crew.

She says she does not “even drink wine or anything,” so she was indifferent to the bottle. She describes the dessert as a set of small sweets that she says were also available at the buffet. She then says, “Now, I hate to be ungrateful, but I’m gonna be, OK? Because this should be against the ***** law.”

Birthdays and Platinum status at Carnival

Carnival lists a Happy Birthday Cake package on its website, with prices starting at $47.95. The page describes a pre-decorated stateroom and a cake to share, pitching it as a way to make the day more memorable at sea. The package includes two vertical birthday banners, one horizontal banner, a decorative window cling and a themed lanyard.

Buyers can choose a vanilla cake with strawberry filling, a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, or a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. The listing states the cake serves up to six guests. The page also offers a reservation lookup for guests who have already booked, alongside an add-to-cart button.

Platinum is a tier in Carnival’s loyalty program. According to Carnival’s Australian website, the VIFP Club became Carnival Rewards on Sept. 1, 2026, and the program now has four tiers: Red, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. The page adds that Status Qualifying Stars determine movement between tiers, and that a VIFP Platinum member as of Aug. 31, 2026, keeps that status. Status is earned during a two-year window, with the first running from Sept. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028.

The Carnival Panorama debuted in December 2019 and is based in Long Beach, California. The Vista-class ship has a gross tonnage of 133,868 and can hold 4,008 guests at double occupancy, or up to 5,146 at full capacity. Built by the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the ship was christened by TV personality Vanna White on Dec. 10, 2019. A year-round schedule of seven-night Mexican Riviera cruises began on Dec. 14, 2019.

The outlet stated it contacted Carnival by email, and Kendra through direct messages on TikTok and Instagram.
