Age of Wonders Planetfall is bring the 4x series to the future. And it will even have dinosaurs with lasers.
Age of Wonders, the long-running 4X series is getting a new iteration, and this one is all kinds of futuristic. This time the game is embracing a sci-fi setting, allow you to use mech suits and futuristic weapons to bring alien planets to heel. The game will launch on August 6 and you can pre-order the game right now. Triumph Studios are developing the game, and want to bring all the exciting tactical turn-based combat and in-depth empire building of the series to the new setting.
While gameplay mechanics appear to be familiar for those of us who enjoy 4X strategy, I am thrilled with the setting. There is only so many time I can lead an army of fantasy monsters, and I was starting to suffer fatigue despite the great creature design in the series.
Build your empire with one of six unique factions, ranging from the militant Vanguard to the dinosaur-riding Amazons and the cyborg-zombies of the Assembly. Progress through each faction’s missions using your wits, military strength and diplomacy, exploring planetary ruins and encountering other survivors as you unravel the history of a shattered civilization. Fight, build, negotiate and technologically advance your way to utopia in a deep single player campaign, on random skirmish maps, and against friends in multiplayer.
Age of Wonders Planetfall will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Paradox Interactive is publishing the game. It can pre-ordered right now on Steam.
