Alcremie to have 16 variations in Pokemon Sword and Shield

There will be 16 versions of Alcremie in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Polteageist and Cramorant aren’t the only Pokémon getting some attention after the September Nintendo Direct. Alcremie is showing off some style changes of its own as it makes its debut in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The Fairy type Cream Pokémon will have 16 variations in the game.

In a Twitter update from Serebii, including pictures, it appears Alcremie will have a series of different color variations. These don’t even include a shiny version of the Pokemon.

Each variation appears to be a different flavor with a unique topping. Those toppings are Alcremie’s little hair clips. Some have short green clips, others hearts, others blueberries, and others still have strawberries. The base can be anywhere from the default cream color, to pale blue, pale green, white, or yellow. Alcremie might appear as one solid color or with a pattern in the hair.

Variations within one Pokémon aren’t unusual, but 16 is undoubtedly the highest. The last with a similar number of color variations came out during Generation Six’s Vivillon with 11 different color variations. With Vivillon, players could only get different color variations based on where they lived. These variations were to encourage trading between players to get all the colors.

Currently, we do not know what causes Alcremie to display its different colors, but we can look to find out in the future.

Pokémon Sword and Shield comes to the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 15.
