There’s multiplayer coming to the next Animal Crossing game, which is the first time such a mechanic has shown up in an Animal Crossing title throughout the series’ run
During Nintendo’s E3 conference today, we learned plenty about the upcoming roster of games they’re pushing out this year. Unfortunately, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is not one of them, as Nintendo announced they were going to push the game back to 2020.
However, they did provide additional details about the game that players should start getting excited about when the game does arrive for the Nintendo Switch.
One of the more significant new mechanics coming to the Animal Crossing title is the fact players are going to have access to a multiplayer mode. Nintendo is allowing up to eight players to interact together in the game, where friends can visit each other’s homes or play the game together in a local co-op in a split-screen mode.
This game is the first of the Animal Crossing series to feature this heavy of multiplayer content, which is a great thing to see. It enforces the fact players are going to need to get on Nintendo’s online subscription service, making the offer much more useful than it has been in the past.
Hopefully, we learn what else players are going to be able to do with one another when they jump into another player’s game. We’d love to see competitions, collections, and several different rewards for playing with a friend.
