Ark: Survival Evolved, the massive prehistoric survival adventure game that lets you create structures while controlling dinosaurs, is coming to Nintendo Switch, Studio Wildcard announced.
The port was revealed during Epic Game’s “State of Unreal” keynote at GDC 2018. It will be launching in both digital and retail formats this Fall.
The Switch version of the game includes all the original content from the PC version with over 100 prehistoric and fantasy-inspired animals available at launch. Players will be able to explore, craft, and survive on the go in handheld mode with friends or by themselves. Players will also be able to play alongside other survivors online.
“The Switch’s handheld mode provides a fantastic new capability for survivors who want to fully immerse themselves in the vast worlds of ARK,” Jeremy Stieglitz, Studio Wildcard’s Lead Designer, said in the announcement. “With this new version, Switch players can go directly from hunting and taming while sitting on the couch, to forming online tribes and searching out new conquests when on the bus, waiting in line, or wherever they happen to be.”
The game originally launched on Steam’s early access on June 2015 and quickly gained popularity. Over 13 million players have purchased the game on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
