Atari’s new home console, the Atari VCS, will finally go on pre-sale on May 30 on Indiegogo.
The VCS is a completely new streaming device that contains over 100 classic games. These games include fan favorites like Asteroids, Centipede, Breakout, and Missile Command® alongside a full range of popular modern titles that will be announced at a later date.
“We continue moving forward on the Atari VCS project and are excited to see this pre-sale kickoff,” Michael Arzt, Atari COO of Connected Devices, said in the announcement. “We are building outstanding teams and forging alliances that will make this product great and truly worthy of the Atari VCS name.”
Those who pre-order the console will get the time-limited VCS collector’s edition which features a bunch of Atari-themed goodies. Fans can also pre-order a different, sleek-black version of the console called the Onyx at the same time for $199.
The console offers support for owners of 4K resolution televisions, HDR and 60FPS content, onboard and expandable storage options, as well as USB 3.0 support. The full list of the console’s specifications will be posted on the pre-sale page on May 30.
The classic Atari Joystick and a brand-new modern-day controller will also be sold separately on the pre-sale page alongside the system.
