Axiom Verge was one of the most talked-about games of 2015, and it continued to make noise until it reached a fever pitch when it came to Nintendo Switch in 2017.
In that time since being re-released across multiple platforms, developer Thomas Happ has been working on the sequel in secret. Axiom Verge 2, announced today during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, is coming Fall 2020.
It’s time to pick up where Trace, and the story surrounding his lab accident and subsequent journey through Sudra, left off. The many paths you could have taken during the original game will likely play a part in the story of the sequel, though exact story details have not been released.
Axiom Verge 2 will likely be coming to all of the other major consoles, just like its predecessor did, but the game is inherently linked with the Nintendo Switch after its massive success on the system. Taking inspiration and giving a unique take on a style that Metroid made popular on Nintendo consoles of old has built goodwill with those fans.
