At E3 2019, Ninja Theory has shared the first trailer and information about what’s next, and that is Bleeding Edge, coming at some point on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The reveal was quite disappointing to many fans, as it is a multiplayer title and something totally different from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
During Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference, Ninja Theory shared the first trailer about its next game, Bleeding Edge. The title is set to launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC sometime in the future. The reveal was quite disappointing to many fans, as Bleeding Edge was shown to be a multiplayer title and something different from the single-player experience of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
It’s worth noting a different team within Ninja Theory is going to work on Bleeding Edge, and it is not the same who handled Hellblade. Tameem Antoniades, the creative director behind Hellblade, is working on something bigger at Ninja Theory and plans to show those details at a later date.
Rahni Tucker, Bleeding Edge’s creative director, has said she believes there’s real potential for the game to have significant single-player campaign moments, at least to have those in the future.
“To be honest though I think we could do some really great single-player campaigns with the game,” Tucker said. “But it’s such a small team, and the multiplayer is at the core of the game. It’s the most important thing, and you can’t do it second. It has to be first.”
“For me, the multiplayer is the game. We have the potential to do single-player stuff in the future like maybe, there’s plenty of interesting stories to tell with the characters, but we’ll just have to see,” Tucker added.
We can’t interpret this as a form of teasing, but know the team behind Bleeding Edge are keeping all of their single-player options open. However, we have to remember the core of the game is multiplayer, and the team wants to stay true to this perspective. Players should not expect any significant single-player involvement until later.
Bleeding Edge will have a technical test based on its alpha stage from June 27.
