CD Projekt Red have clarified a recent report that they had three Cyberpunk games in development, saying that this was misreported.
In a report from Bankier early this week, it appeared to be revealed that CD Projekt Red was working on three different Cyberpunk games. The company has stated to clarify that this is, in fact, not the case.
“We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D,” a CD Projekt rep said in a statement that wished to clarify some issues around the translation of the original report.
“A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project.”, the statement continued. As such, we shouldn’t be expecting multiple games from the company set in the Cyberpunk universe any time soon.
There is good news though, as CD Projekt Red recently confirmed their interest in making a massive expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, much like they did for The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3’s expansions were exceptionally well received, packed with content and the excellent storytelling that the game had become known for. They were also used as reasons to explore very different sides of Geralt, making the character seem fresh and exciting. Given the length of play time, they both contained, such expansions for Cyberpunk 2077 would come pretty close to hitting the mark of three complete games anyway.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release on April 16, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
