One of the worst moments of the latest E3 has definitely been the reveal of Command & Conquer Rivals, the mobile game from Electronic Arts based on the beloved strategy property.
Despite having the chance to be a good mobile game, Rivals attracted a lot of criticism from people wondering why EA didn’t pour the resources required into a full-fledged C&C title instead of that… thing.
Apparently, producer Jim Vessella has understood the message and has started to work on some kind of revival for the franchise, beginning with a return of the original games, remastered in occasion of the 25th anniversary.
“Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more,” he said on Reddit.
“With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary.”
“We are eager to hear your feedback to help influence our current thoughts for PC and what comes next,” he added, letting users know that the process is long from being completed. “Over the next few weeks, we’ll be talking to fans in a variety of ways. In the meantime, please share your thoughts here on the subreddit.”
To a person asking about the game, the producer said “we will not be adding any microtransactions to a C&C Remaster,” and that should be good news to many of you, I guess.
Is this a good way to let the franchise return? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
