The co-founders of a popular Call of Duty developer have decided to move on from the company that they started.

Michael Condrey, studio head and co-founder of Sledgehammer, and Glen Schofield, general manager and co-founder of Sledgehammer, have left Sledgehammer Games to take on “new executive duties inside Activision,” according to Kotaku.

Condrey and Schofield are known for their interaction with the Call of Duty community since they founded Sledgehammer Games in 2009—and this has especially been true this year following the release of WWII in November 2017.

“Following the incredible success of Call of Duty: WWII, Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey have decided to transition from their duties at Sledgehammer Games to new executive duties inside Activision,” Activision told Kotaku. “We thank Glen and Michael for their tremendous body of work on Call of Duty and look forward to continuing to collaborate with them in their new roles.”

The departures of Schofield and Condrey mean that Aaron Halon, the longtime director of product development, will now “lead Sledgehammer Games.” Halon “has over 20 years of industry experience and has played an instrumental role throughout the studio’s history,” according to Activision.

Condrey is grateful to everyone involved in the growth of the company that he started almost a decade ago.

“I’m proud of what we accomplished together, it has been the greatest experience of my professional life,” Condrey said. “I am looking forward to starting a new chapter of my career with Activision. I couldn’t be more excited for the future of Sledgehammer Games and look forward to seeing Aaron lead the studio to new heights.”

Many Call of Duty fans will be curious to see if the departures of Condrey and Schofield have any significant impact on the remainder of the WWII season.
