Over the last few months, we’ve been discussing the introduction of a multiplayer component in Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED has remained ambiguous about the topic. The Polish developer has been discussing chances that we could get this multiplayer mode anytime soon. However, they ended up claiming during E3 and Gamescom that it would not be coming before 2021.

Today, we have an official confirmation about multiplayer happening in Cyberpunk 2077. While we’re going to get it, it’s going to follow the game’s initial release date next year.

“Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D,” said CDPR. “As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single-player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works!”

“The plan, for now, is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April,” added the team, “then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single-player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.”

The development of these features is still in the making. This development process is why CD Projekt RED continues recruiting people to fill its offices. It is searching for employees with knowledge in the matter, as the team has not worked with multiplayer too much in the past. We’ll be reporting as soon as we get more information about what this multiplayer component will be about – PvP? PvE? We don’t know yet.
