It’s unclear when Cyberpunk 2077 will launch, but the RPG will be available on Steam, CD Projekt revealed.
During the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar on Feb. 22, CD Projekt dropped some more hints on Cyberpunk 2077. And while the reveals are slim, it’s now confirmed that the game will be headed to Steam.
During the seminar, CD Projekt CEO Adam KiciÅ„ski opened up about Cyberpunk 2077’s features and plans, which will be “set in a futuristic world blending science-fiction with modern culture” built on “rich, true-to-life visuals.”
Not just that, but KiciÅ„ski described Cyberpunk 2077 as an opportunity to form a “blockbuster franchise from the beginning” in a new universe, which means there will most likely be future Cyberpunk games after Cyberpunk 2077 launches. He compared the game favorably to The Witcher 3, saying it’s “open-world with open-ended gameplay.” And he called it “more ambitious than Witcher 3,” suggesting the game will build off The Witcher 3’s realistic open-world format and grow from there.
KiciÅ„ski also said that “for now,” if the studio works on another major game, it will be either Cyberpunk or The Witcher. Even though The Witcher 3 won’t be receiving future content, that means the larger franchise will most likely see a continuation down the road beyond Gwent, the spin-off Witcher card game.
As for Cyberpunk 2077’s launch platforms, expect the game to land on Steam and GOG. No release date or further trailers have been announced yet, however, so fans will have to sit tight as they wait for additional information.
