Diablo 4 was officially announced at Blizzcon 2019

After years of waiting (and an unfortunate lack of presence at Blizzcon 2018), Diablo 4 has been officially announced! The game was revealed with its cinematic trailer below.

Blizzard promises a dark story experience and will also have PvP zones. You will also see other players out in the world. The trailer features a summoning of Lillith and will be coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. No release date was given for the game.

Game director Luis Barriga took the stage to talk about the game. The first three classes revealed are Barbarian, Sorceress, and Druid. Given such a long wait since Diablo 3 released, the upgrade in graphics is instantly noticeable. The story takes place many years following the events of Diablo 3. Diablo 2 is a big time inspiration for the game. Looking back at that game led Blizzard to drive for Diablo 4 to be darker, gorier, and more sinister. Diablo 4 is filled with the sense of dread from Diablo 1, the loot chase from Diablo 2, and the combat from Diablo 3. It will take everything that made past DIablo games popular and combine them to give the best experience yet in the series.

At Blizzcon 2018 many fans were disappointed to not receive news on Diablo 4. Instead, Diablo Immortal was heavily covered. While many fans are not crazy about the idea of Diablo on mobile, the game is also on the horizon. People have been wanting Diablo 4 for years and their prayers have been answered. Do not expect it anytime soon, though, it might take a few more years to release.
