That’s the nebulous new release date for the upcoming strategy RPG, which was previously gunning for a May 7 debut. Now, thanks to an issue with its demo allowing people to barrel on through the complete game, it’s been pushed back out. Bummer.
As it turns out, the Disgaea 5 Complete demo was allowing players to go all the way past Chapter 3, where it was meant to draw the line and keep people from progressing further.
The PC demo housed all the files needed to unlock the entirety of the game, so if you really knew what you were doing you could make some simple changes to play the whole thing ahead of release. NIS America didn’t take kindly to that, obviously, and released a statement:
“Unfortunately, until this issue can be resolved, the release date will be postponed, and we are now targeting a release for Summer 2018. We offer our sincerest apologies to all who have been looking forward to this release of the game.”
You may remember a similar issue occurring with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, which also had a demo. Players found that they were able to push past the demo’s constraints and go ahead and play through the entirety of the game, which also led to that game’s trial being pulled and players locked out of it entirely.
There isn’t a new, concrete date in just yet for the game to make its way out to the hopeful fans ready to give the strategy adventure its due. It should be worth the wait when it finally does arrive, however.
