In an interesting Christmas surprise, Escape From Tarkov has received a new trailer today!
The somewhat Stalker inspired multiplayer survival shooter released a new trailer today, highlighting the tension and drama that appears to be inherent in trying to rummage through some rusty old lockers in search of a bandage.
It has to be said; visually the game certainly is a treat. There is a lot of ambiance and atmosphere in the setting, which plays nicely into the tension of never quite knowing when a bullet might come your way.
Now I wasn’t quite willing to pony us the cash for early access to Escape From Tarkov, but I have found myself very intrigued by the game. The staccato tension of the survival shooter, combined with a deep and comprehensive weapon system floats my boat. Add in the fantastic visuals, and it is something that I want to get into.
That said, it would be remiss of me not to ponder at least if this new trailer was at least partially aimed at dealing with some recent bad press.
Battlestate Games, developers of Escape From Tarkov, recently made headlines for issuing 50 DMCA claims against a Youtuber know as Eroktic. They claimed that they did this because of incorrect information and overall negativity about their game, rather than any actual copyright issue.
The internet reacted quite badly to this, especially the idea that a developer would wield such a hard-hitting weapon against someone because they didn’t like the game. It is a long, and complex, saga. For those interested, I strongly suggest you read the linked article for all the details.
