We’ve reported about the internal mistake that led Xbox Germany to post over its social media a Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer and claiming it would be out on March 3, 2020, on Xbox One, upon the same day of the PlayStation 4 (at least, thought to be) exclusive game.
It was just a mistake, and there’s no announcement to make at this stage, said Microsoft, but in the meantime, someone has contacted Square Enix, too, to learn more about what they had to say on this weird matter.
“As previously announced, FINAL FANTASY VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd, 2020,” a spokesperson told MSPowerUser when asked about whether the title would be dropping anytime soon on Xbox One. “We have no plans for other platforms.”
It’s quite a bold statement on their end if you consider that the original trailer for FFVII Remake stated that it would be coming “first on PlayStation 4.” That reference has disappeared in the latest trailers, so there’s even a chance that it could be a full and not timed exclusive, or that, as part of the deal with Sony, Square Enix had to remove it.
On top of that, it’s also worth mentioning that on March 3, 2020, we’ll get to purchase the first episode of Final Fantasy VIII Remake and not the entire package. Square Enix is telling the fact it is episodic in interviews with the press, but no mention of that is being made on the packs we’ll buy at retail.
