In Square Enix’s E3 2019 press conference, the company released an extension of the trailer that was shown off in the Final Fantasy VII orchestra.

The extended footage shows more of the game’s beginning, including more combat gameplay. The video finally revealed Aerith fighting in battles, as well as more video with Cloud and Barret fighting stuff. Aerith uses exceptional magic abilities in the trailer, while Cloud and Barret were more physical attackers.

We get more scenes of Cloud interacting with Jessie, the latter giving the former a Materia. There’s even a scene with Cloud and Jessie riding through a tunnel on a motorcycle, while enemies chase after them. In the original Final Fantasy VII, the player had the option to have Cloud flirt with Jessie. Based on their short interactions in the trailer, it is possible that the choice will be in the remake as well.

Probably an essential thing revealed with this new footage is the fact that Tifa is finally shown off. We finally got to see Tifa in the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and we even get to see some combat gameplay of her. She strikes her enemies with her knuckles. Her design is mostly the same, though now she has a black shirt underneath her white tee and she has long black socks.

Marlene also shows up in the trailer, and that’s nice. The trailer continues to show more areas of Midgard; we even get to see the inside of the Shinra building. The extended footage ends with an appearance of Sephiroth. He confronts Cloud in the fire and dares him to run away.

The Final Fantasy Remake is slated to release on March 3, 2020.
