A new story campaign for Fortnite: Save the World is underway, along with major changes to the game’s research and crafting system.
Don’t worry Fortnite: Save the World fans, development is still underway for the game’s player-vs-enemy mode. Earlier today, Epic Games unveiled Save the World’s latest development state for June and introduced fans to a few incoming features, including player reporting and the game map’s next biome.
For one, Player Reporting is on the way for Save the World. In the team’s state of development post, Save the World’s developers said it is “analyzing the types of behaviors that are major problems for the community,” and players who report in-game abuse will receive follow up messages if Epic Games punishes a toxic user. Penalties range “from warnings all the way to permanent bans, but Epic Games promised that the Player Reporting system is “geared toward serial offenders.” So don’t fret if you make a mistake now or then, you won’t face retribution.
Fortnite: Save the World fans eager for more story content have plenty to look forward to as development continues too. Epic Games is already well underway creating Save the World’s next campaign, Canny Valley, which takes place through “the Arid parts” of Fortnite’s universe. A screenshot shared in Epic’s post teases a rural desert area that looks like an abandoned, rural wild west town in the middle of the desert.
This campaign promises to answer questions about “the real Ray,” or the robotic assistant Ray’s human counterpart. Players can also look forward to learning more about the Storm’s creation and why it exists. Expect Canny Valley for “shortly after v5.0,” which is still on the way.
The Collection Book is also set to receive some major changes that will help Save the World player research heroes and schematics. Through collecting Flux and Training Manuals, players will be able to research specific heroes, weapon schematics, and trap schematics, even if they haven’t previously acquired the item in question that they want to research. This is a pretty significant change for Fortnite: Save the World’s hero system, as it lets players acquire new heroes without relying on Llamas for some of the game’s best classes and sub classes. Expect those changes to arrive as soon as v4.5.
After listening to fan feedback, Save the World’s development team also decided to bring the Builder Pro control scheme to Fortnite’s player-vs-enemy mode in v4.5. Challenge the Horde is coming back in v5.0 as well, which will have players drop into a map with a pre-assembled base while surviving against an oncoming horde. Epic Games says Challenging the Horde will “be the focus of our v5.0 event” and come with new difficulty progression and combat changes, along with better rewards and Mini-Bosses.
