Fortnite is about to improve its matchmaking, granting more people a better experience when it comes to playing with others on the same level.

The system which is being implemented as part of Season 11 will make sure that you always play with people on your level, as you’ll be paired with stronger opponents as you get stronger.

“You will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents,” said Epic Games in a blog post, when introducing patch 10.40. The system will change progressively across regions, but you’ll get to notice that very soon.

In the same effort of creating a more comfortable environment for newer players, the next season will also introduce bots in non-competitive modes. Similarly to the matchmaking system, you’ll be facing fewer bots progressively, as you get stronger and more able to play with human opponents.

“They will behave similarly to normal players and will help provide a better path for players to grow in skill,” said Epic Games. “Bots will not be present in Competitive playlists. This is another system that we will continue to update and iterate.”

Multiplayer games are usually accused of being toxic for newcomers, so it’s nice to see one of the most popular around implementing such measures to get better, alongside content drops like the Batman crossover. Hopefully, these systems will also teach a lesson to others in the industry.
