A few days ago, rumors began circling Forever Entertainment, the publisher currently handling Panzer Dragoon remake for Nintendo Switch, maybe getting their hands on Sega’s classic House of the Dead games. A Polish site reported the first two arcade games were being touched up for a new generation to enjoy. At the time, the report wasn’t official, but today, it is.
Forever Entertainment announced from their official Twitter account it is indeed working on bringing back the two classic light-gun shooters.

“Hi Guys! We confirm the signing of the agreement regarding remakes of the games ‘The House of the Dead’ and ‘The House of the Dead 2’,” it noted. “No platforms or release dates have been confirmed, and unfortunately, we can’t say anything more for now. Please keep fingers crossed for us and follow our official channels.”
While it is curious that the developer wouldn’t announce platforms – particularly the Nintendo Switch, which is the focus for Dragoon at the moment – this is exciting news for fans of the series.
The original House of the Dead didn’t see much of a home release at all following its arcade run. It did get converted on the Sega Saturn during the end of its life cycle. It also saw a PC release. But it didn’t get nearly as much focus as House of the Dead 2, which saw a stable release on the Dreamcast before getting a re-release on the Nintendo Wii with House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return.
We’ll bring you any details on the releases as soon as they’re available.
