A new video game movie is apparently coming and – as it usually happens – it involves a long process of thinking and making, and a legendary character from a much beloved but highly in need of a reworked series.

It’s, of course, Duke Nukem, who, it’s confirmed, is going to be played by WWE wrestler and multiple time world champion John Cena. The script is not being made yet, but the starting point of the project is Cena himself so it looks like this thing will happen sooner or later.

John Cena To Star In Duke Nukem Movie

“We don’t have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn’t like the script I’m sure there are ways that he could pull out,” producer Andrew Form told CinemaBlend. “But right now he’s our guy.”

When asked about the misogynistic nature of the brand and the character of Duke Nukem, which are indeed a bit out of time now, Form said he knows that and that this is going to be the biggest struggle he’ll face in the process.

“He’s got to be an incredible badass, so those are the things that we’re struggling with and we’re going to try and come out with what I hope is a really fun ride. That’s the goal, is for it to be a really fun ride.”

We’ll update you as soon as things start to ramp up in the production of the movie.
