This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Jonathan Blow’s latest, untitled project is the Braid creator’s take on Sokoban game centered around pushing boxes. During his talk at the Spanish Gamelab conference, Blow showed off a bit of footage for attendees, which you can now see in a video that’s surfaced online. Sokoban is all about working to cover specific marks on the floor, and while Blow’s current game has no title, you can see the game’s influence on the footage below.

Sokoban is all about working to cover specific marks on the floor, and while Blow’s current game has no title, you can see the game’s influence on the footage below.

Blow spoke briefly on creating a new language for programmers during the talk called Jai, which is utilized in the game itself. You can see it in action around 27:35 in the video, where a game with a top-down perspective is revealed.

“It’s the sort of game where you can run characters around,” Blow said. “The puzzles involve things like ‘how do I get this crystal out of this room without locking a character in?’ and different characters have different abilities. There’s an undo button for when players make mistakes.”

Beyond the brief glimpse of the footage, Blow didn’t go into much depth on what the public can expect or the release date for the level-based puzzle game. The Witness took around eight years to complete, landing on PS4 and PC in 2016. For most of that duration the game was shrouded in mystery, so as unceremonious as it is, it’s interesting to catch a glimpse of what he might be up to next. It’ll probably be some time before the project is completed. Hopefully someone tells Soulja Boy.
