Fan favorite character Kitana has been revealed to be joining the roster of Mortal Kombat 11.

Kitana was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II. She was the blue, leotard-wearing female Ninja, who wielded deadly fans. Since II, she’s been a staple within the series.

On April 8, NetherRealm Studios showed off the one-minute trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 that will be used for television. The trailer showed an average person, probably a representation of the average gamer, slowly walking in a hallway. The person keeps switching into other people, each one having powers that classic Mortal Kombat characters have.

The last person, a woman, pulls out Kitana’s signature fans and turns into the blue ninja herself. Kitana proceeds to fight Scorpion as the trailer ends. Though no gameplay footage was shown, the trailer pretty much confirms Kitana is in the roster. If she isn’t, then the trailer wouldn’t make much sense, would it?

While the TV spot trailer officially confirms that Kitana will be a playable character in MK 11, she has already been featured in footage for the game. Several of the cutscenes in the game features her heavily, and artwork of her is shown within the main menus of the game.

Kitana is known for her romance with Liu Kang, and for being the princess of Edenia, a realm within the world of Mortal Kombat. After Shao Kahn conquered her realm, she became Kahn’s stepdaughter and for a time became the princess of Outward.

After being killed by her mother in the 2011 version of Mortal Kombat, she was resurrected as a wraith from the Netherrealm. She is currently the co-ruler of the Netherrealm, with her beloved Liu Kang.

Mortal Kombat 11 is slated to be released later this month, on April 23.
