Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Konami has announced a series of video game collections that contain some of their most classic games.
On the official Konami website, the company has revealed three collections that will be available digitally for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and Steam. The three collections are called the Arcade Classics, Castlevania, and Contra Anniversary Collections. Each collection will have eight games each.
The Arcade Classics contains old-school games that were release on arcades and gaming consoles from the 1980s. The titles included in the Arcade Classics are Haunted Castle, A-Jax (aka Typhoon), the first two Gradius games, Life Force, Thunder Cross, Scramble, and TwinBee.
Only four games each have been announced for the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection and Contra: Anniversary Collection. Currently, only Castlevania on the NES, Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge on the Game Boy, Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse and Super Castlevania 4 are announced for the Castlevania collection.
For the Contra Collection, only the original Contra, Super Contra, Super C and Contra 3: The Alien Wars have been announced. Each collection will also come with a Bonus Book, which will be an eBook that contains interviews with staff, and sketches.
All collections are available digitally only. Konami Anniversary Collection: Arcade Classics will be available on April 18. The Castlevania and Contra Collections are expected to come out early summer of this year.
