Looking at how popular the original game was, we’re sure enough expecting a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to happen in a few years on PlayStation 5, and Insomniac Games does, too.

Now, while we don’t have any official information about that and this is just pure speculation, there’s a chance we might have an interesting clue to what could happen in the sequel.

In the comic book Spider-Man: City at War #2, Spider-Man has to face the iconic villain S.W.A.R.M. (Symbiotic Warfare Anthophila Restraining Model).

You might remember of him because he’s made out of bees and uses them in battle, and also because he was set to appear in Insomniac’s title but in the end, was cut for some reason.

Actually, in a podcast with J. Jonah Jameson, the character is still mentioned and called a “Nazi made out of bees,” which looks a rather fitting description for him, so the game is acknowledging his existence in its same universe.

Now we have another proof of that, since the Spider-Man: City at War #2 comic also exists in the same universe as Spider-Man for PlayStation 4.

The fact Swarm is being featured so heavily in that universe could easily be a hint of sorts to his inclusion in the sequel, if not as the main antagonist at least as one of the villains we’ll be required to beat along the way.

Be warned anyway that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should be in its very early stages of development, so plans could well change before we get to see something from it.
