Production Wraps Up for Netflix’s The Witcher Television Series

Initial production for Netflix’s The Witcher television series has wrapped up, meaning the team has the summer to edit the show before it releases later this fall

The Witcher television series heading to Netflix later this fall is set to meet that deadline as the actor behind the main protagonist Geralt, Henry Cavill, reveals through an Instagram post that show has already wrapped up production. This benchmark would give the team the entire summer to prepare for the show’s fall release.

Here’s the Instagram post, showing Cavill sitting in a behind a meal as his makeup team removes some prosthetics.

“Season 1 of The Witcher has finally come to an end. And although I’m pulling a face here, it has been an incredible journey! The cast and crew worked tirelessly throughout, everyone pitched in and brought their A game to set, and I couldn’t be more proud of you all,” wrote Cavill in his Instagram post. “Speaking of my immediate team. Jacqui, Ailbhe, and Leah are consummate professionals who worked extraordinary hours to bring the Witcher to life; they were non stop improving adjusting and evolving Geralt throughout. Thank you, ladies, for making this journey a good one. All of those 3 am wake ups were worth it!”

We know there’s going to be eight-episodes for the show’s first season, and the book series’ author, Andrzej Sapkowski, is working as a creative consultant. With Sapkowski aiding the Netflix team, we’re likely to see the show rely more closely on the book series’ source material and a storyline more akin to the written stories rather than the tale told through The Witcher game series, developed by CD Projekt.

If you’d like to view the series, make sure to wait to hear when The Witcher television show releases on Netflix and have a subscription to the streaming service to catch it when it first comes out.
