Big Yakuza fan? Can’t believe Kazuma Kiryu’s story has come to a conclusion with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life? Don’t fret: There will certainly be more Yakuza in the future, even if it seems like it’s all quiet for right now.

In fact, according to a report via DualShockers, it appears that Sega’s Yakuza Studio is working right now as we speak on the Shin Yakuza series, and there could be additional work from those who created Kazuma Kiryu himself going on right now.

In an interview with Sega Sammy CEO Haruki Satomi in the latest issue of Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu, it appears that there’s a new Yakuza game in general coming down the line. Satomi-san discussed in the interview his intentions to challenge new IPs across various platforms, including arcade and mobile devices. After he spoke at length on new IPs for arcade and mobile markets, he also let slip that there’s a brand new title from the Yakuza Studio already in the works.

Of course, that’s just about all he divulged, because more information would be too much for us to handle, probably. He did add that fans can “look forward” to it, as if all of us rabid Yakuza faithful aren’t already doing that to begin with.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life just released in the west this week exclusively on PlayStation 4, but that’s not all we have in terms of Yakuza goodness this year. Kazuma Kiryu’s swan song was an excellent bookend to the Dragon of Dojima’s time in the series, but we can always use more. Luckily, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is coming later this year on Aug. 28 to bring us a bountiful beginning to fall.
