Nintendo is officially 129 years old. The company was established in 1889, when it was known for creating Hanafuda playing cards for the Japanese community.

Since then, Nintendo has become a thriving business in the video game space, bringing some of gaming’s most beloved mascots to a home near you.

In more recent years, the popular company has launched the Nintendo Switch, combining its portable and home console market into one nifty device. Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 2 have all had commercial success, and new games, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, are set to be released at the end of the year.

Next year, Nintendo will reach a huge milestone for any company as it celebrates its 130th birthday—and it’s expected to celebrate it with a slew of great games for the Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing and a new core RPG Pokémon title are all expected to be released next year, while Metroid Prime 4 could also make its grand debut.

Regardless of how you look at it, Nintendo isn’t going anywhere.
