Kimishima didn’t give any exact figures for Nintendo’s mobile titles during the company’s latest financial yearly report and failed to expand upon what Nintendo deems as satisfactory profit numbers for its mobile division, according to GamesIndiustry.
Super Mario Run has maintained around 20 million monthly active users over the past few months while downloads continue to grow. It is unknown how many of these downloads were purchases, however.
The game is one of many evergreen titles for smart devices that Nintendo has created to act as a way to get people interested in Nintendo IP. Nintendo hopes to do this by expanding its number of consumers worldwide on mobile devices to persuade them to buy a Nintendo console.
As for Fire Emblem Heroes, it continues to perform well. The game is currently expanding to multiple regions and has been out on the market for a year since February. Nintendo stated in the financial report that the game has “continued to grow without slowing” while maintaining its level of active users throughout the past year.
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp was omitted from the report, however. The game generated $20 million in its first two months which was significantly lower than Fire Emblem Heroes’s $86 million during the same timeframe, according to GameIndustry.
Nintendo is still looking to release new applications in the future on mobile in order to increase its presence in the industry. Nintendo’s next title will be based on the Mario Kart series and it is expected to release sometime this year.
