Survival meets Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!

After the vast success of its just-released The Outer Worlds, Obsidian Entertainment fans were wondering what the team was up to next. Today, during the X019 showcase, we got a first look at the new title, Grounded.

It looks surprisingly small, based on the game’s setting. Grounded is a survival game where you play as one of various characters with a twist. Each of the characters are only a few inches tall.

The game’s story hasn’t been revealed yet, so we’re not sure how they shrunk down. Players have their work cut out for them because they need to use survival tactics to take on bugs, turtles, and other threats.

Along the way, you need to build new armor, weaponary, and use throwable rocks to defend yourself. You’ll also need to gather resources to create a home camp for yourself, in case you need to rest before going out on your next mission.

While the trailer is a bit on the brief side, Grounded does show an interesting new take on the survival genre. And it’s interesting to see Obsidian take on their own idea of what a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids game would be like.

Grounded currently doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to come to the Xbox One sometime in spring 2020. We’ll keep you informed on its progress, and the possibility of a beta release.
