Abe is back! 90s kids rejoice because platform gaming’s oddest hero has returned for another adventure. Oddworld Inhabitants, the studio behind the long-running series, today revealed the trailer for the latest installment, Oddworld: Soulstorm.

The series began in 1997 with Abe’s Oddysee, and went on hiatus in 2005, after the fourth installment in the series, Stranger’s Wrath. The games see you trying to help Abe free his people from their slave-like state, toiling in the dangerous factories of their oppressors. Gameplay wise, the easiest way to sum it up would be as a strange mix of traditional platforming elements, Lemmings, and terrifying environmental puzzles.

Your goal is to help Abe get his friends to freedom, but it is not always easy to manage without some collateral damage. The new trailer for Soulstorm details some gameplay elements, some rather detailed and expansive environments, and of course, the wonderful hero of the hour, Abe. Over the years the series has hit an impressive 15 million sales, so I assume this trailer will make for a lot of happy people.

No release date has been giving yet, and no platforms have been confirmed for release. I have to say, this news makes me extremely happy, as I lost many hours to the series over the years.
