Expect Okami HD on Nintendo Switch this coming August.
Just five months after Capcom launched Okami HD for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Capcom’s official Okami Twitter account revealed that Okami HD will launch on Nintendo Switch this summer.
In a tweet posted this morning, Capcom revealed Okami HD’s release date on Nintendo Switch will be Aug. 9. The Twitter account originally said eShop preorders are “now live,” but Capcom later corrected its post, confirming eShop preorders will “actually go live closer to August 9.”
Capcom has yet to announce the game’s price, although Okami HD previously launched for just $19.99, so expect to pay a similar amount when the game is ready for preorder.
In the meantime, the Okami Twitter account’s announcement showed off one of the Switch-exclusive features that players can expect when the game launches on Nintendo’s consoles. Players can draw with the Celestial Brush by using their fingers, letting users solve puzzles and attack enemies by tracing their own designs. It’s a neat addition to a game that’s been critically praised over the years for its clever storytelling and design, particularly with the Celestial Brush’s painting gameplay.
Okami HD previously released last year as a contemporary remaster of the 2006Â action-adventure game, introducing improved graphics, faster load times, and an HD screen resolution. The game’s high-definition remaster also marked the first time it was officially available for PC, after the game remained console-exclusive for over a decade.
Meanwhile, Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya previously hinted that he has ideas for Okami 2, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
