Nintendo has been smashing milestones for its Switch sales, but Sony hasn’t been a slouch recently, either.
The company just announced its financial results for the period that ended as of Dec. 31, 2017, and they’re pretty impressive. As it turns out, the worldwide total shipment numbers for PlayStation 4 consoles ended up at 76.5 million. Â
There were nine million PlayStation 4 units shipped out during the three months preceding Dec. 31, which is actually less than the 9.7 million shipped last year, but it’s still a pretty strong showing. The company originally forecasted 19 million units for the fiscal year of 2017, which hasn’t changed.Â
PlayStation has enjoyed a pretty strong showing in terms of exclusive games and popular titles, especially with strong attractions like Call of Duty and Battlefield both on the system. There are several big plays for the console still to come as well, like Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (which was just delayed), and in the more recent future, the ground-up remake of classic Shadow of the Colossus.
It’s a good time to be a PlayStation 4 owner, that’s for sure.Â
