The latest set of free PlayStation Plus games are here once more, and July’s picks are great for settling into on a hot summer day. Among the PlayStation 4 offerings this month are Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain and Sloclap’s martial arts-focused melee brawler Absolver.Â
If you’ve been interested in exploring Quantic Dream’s catalogue since the debut of Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain’s a great choice to pick up for free. It’s a psychological thriller that follows four different characters: a detective, a father, an FBI agent, and a journalist all seeking to uncover the truth behind the mysterious Origami Killer.Â
The murderer leaves their own grisly calling card at the scene of each crime: a bloody origami design. You’ll discover new clues and make choices along the way that will ultimately determine the killer’s identity and how things play out in the end. It’s an excellent and gripping narrative that’s well worth exploring.Â
Absolver is a completely different kind of game, pitting players online against other people in heated PvP brawls. You can use a varied combination of strikes, lunges, and parries to create a custom fighting style that’s all your own. Aside from taking on all comers who dare fight you, you’ll also tangle with PvE battles in the persistent online world, all in a bid to become the greatest fighter of all time.Â
Both PlayStation 4 titles are great choices, but if you want some love for your PlayStation 3, you can pick up Rayman 3 HD and Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess for the console. The PS Vita even gets a couple more free titles in the form of Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma and Space Overlords.Â
That’s it for this month’s games, but we’ll be back at the end of July for some other cool picks when they arrive.
