During PlayStation’s State of Play livestream, a new trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 was shown. New characters and more story tidbits were revealed.
A new trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 has been shown off in PlayStation’s State of Play showcase. The new trailer revealed new characters and showed more story details.
At the very end of PlayStation’s State of Play live stream, a new trailer for the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 11 was shown. New gameplay and story cutscenes were revealed, highlighting the time travel shenanigans that the characters find themselves into.
The main premise of Mortal Kombat 11 is about the main characters teaming up with their past selves to stop the keeper of time, Kronika.
This new trailer is noticeable for showing off Jax for the first time in Mortal Kombat 11. Though leaks from weeks back had him among the roster, this is the first time we get to see him in the game. The trailer also emphasized Liu Kang’s and Kung Lao’s roles in the story.
According to the announcer of the State of Play, the trailer is the official confirmation of Jax, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao being in the game. Ignoring leaks, the gameplay of Liu Kang and Kung Lao in the game have been in trailers and footage since the game was first announced. Despite that, this trailer is meant to be the official confirmation for the characters being a part of the main roster.
Another important factor from the trailer is a brief shot of Kitana from the past. While Kitana has been shown in previous trailers, it’s always been her evil present self. The trailer clearly showed a Kitana from the past, wearing her iconic blue clothing and carrying her classic fans.
Kitana has yet to be confirmed, though many fans expect her to be in the roster since her present self seems to be an important figure in the story. Having her past self be in the trailer also supports her being in the game.
Last week, NetherRealm studios had shown off Noob Saibot’s very graphic confirmation trailer and revealed who will be the first DLC character. Mortal Kombat 11 is expected to be released on April 23.
